A big congrats to Debbie and Neil as they celebrated their big day at the Decatur House in Washington, DC. Debbie & Neil chose the Elvis classic "You're the Boss" for their 1st dance. A special parents dance featuring the Jackson 5's "I'll Be There" followed thereafter. The quote of the night was delivered by the best man, "Wales is known for two great exports, one being Tom Jones, the other being Neil." After the toasts concluded, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to open the dancing period with Jones' "It's Not Unusual". I concluded the fun-filled evening with Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, & Delivered." As a side note, this was my first opportunity to work with wedding coordinator Vicky Choy. We both have heard great things about each other in the past, and hopefully we'll be working together again in the future.

April 21st: Wedding
Adam and Kate's ceremony/reception at Herrington on the Bay definitely had a feel of a destination wedding - a little bit of Hawaii - a little bit of the Carribean - and a picture perfect Saturday after rain the previous 2 weekends. A very relaxed dress code meant plenty of sun dresses and hawaiian/tropical shirts. And yes - for the 1st time in my dj career, I wore a hawaiian shirt to a wedding. A beautiful ceremony on the Polynesian Bridal Lawn consisted of reggae/funk for prelude music and the bride & groom exchanged leis as a symbol of their devotion. A truly beautiful ceremony!
The reception was held at the Chesapeake Room and the room definitately had an island feel. The bride & grrom dance to Ben Harper's "By My Side" as a 1st dance - later on, John Lennon's "Imagine" was played for a combination father/daughter & mother/son dance. Reggae, alternative, and funk highlighted the evening and the party closed out with a ballad by Phish entitled "Wasted".

April 14th: Wedding
The Dumbarton House in DC was the site of Maureen & Danny's ceremony/reception. The rain held off long enough for a courtyard ceremony - then the reception was held downstairs. The wedding party did the "Walk of Life" for their intro (courtesy of Dire Straits). Maureen & Danny chose John Hiatt's "Have A Little Faith In Me" and the bride joined dad to Heartland's "I Loved Her First". A wide range of music filled the night from Black Eyed Peas to Gwen Stefani to Daft Punk - the party was extended an hour to keep everyone dancing. Top Loader's cover of "Dancing In The Moonlight" finished out a fun-filled event!
April 13th: Wedding
A big congrats to Kate & Chris on their Friday the 13th wedding at the Belvedere in Baltimore. A cocktail hour at the John Howard room featured music from Brubeck, Sinatra, and Bennett - the reception moved across the lobby to the Charles ballroom. After a rowsing wedding party intro to Fat Boy Slim's "Because We Can", the bride & groom chose Stringsteen's "Happy" as their 1st dance. Motown, disco, and big band were sprinkled in for good measure during the night. Everyone swayed together as Garth Brooks' "Friends In Low Places" capped off the evening.
