Kristi & Chris celebrated their special day at the Frederick Douglass Isaac Meyers Maritime Museum in Baltimore, MD. Cocktail music was provided by classical guitarist Christopher Dunn. Chris & Kristi danced their 1st dance to Alison Krauss' "When You Say Nothing At All". Kristi enjoyed a special surprise from her dad when he picked Paul Simon's "Father And Daughter" for their dance. Chris's mom also had a surprise song, John Denver's "For Baby/For Bobbie", for the mother/son dance. Kristi's grandmother danced with her grandkids to "In The Mood" in celebration of her 80th birthday. The evening of dancing concluded with John Mellencamp's "Wild Night". Photography was provided by Stephan Bobb.

Congrats to Julie and James as they celebrated their wedding day at the St. George Ballroom and Conference Center in Washington, DC. A cute slide show, featuring our bride and groom as they grew up, provided memories for the friends and family members. A first dance to lonestar's "Amazed" followed shortly afterwards. After the dancing segment concluded, the bride and groom finished off with "The Dance" by Garth Brooks.

The Carnegie Institution in Washington, DC was the setting for Martha and Arthur's special night. Selections from Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Dave Brubeck, and Billie Holiday complemented the cocktail and dinner periods provided by Well-Dunn Catering. The Etta James classic "At Last" provided our couple with their first dance. Music from Madonna, Prince, and other 80s icons, along with some 70s funk, filled up the floor for dancing. Carl Bower caught all the special moments on film.

Clydes Willow Creek Farm was the site for Nancy & Steve's reception. Located in Ashburn, VA, this was the furthest I've travelled this year (I have a 75 mile limit from the Baltimore area). After a cocktail period featuring some Rat Pack favorites, the wedding party was introduced to Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World". Nancy & Steve danced to "Crazy Love" by Van Morrison for their first dance. Afterwards, Nancy & dad danced to the timeless "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle. The evening was filled with classics from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, plus a few current hits sprinkled in for good measure. Nancy's parent's were treated to a dedication "Through The Years" by Kenny Rogers. Photography was provided by Jennifer of Roman Grinev Photography.

September 29th: Pets On Wheels Dog-a-Thon
My final volunteer event for 2007 was held at Oregon Ridge Park. The 2nd annual Pets On Wheels Dog-a-Thon featured dog breeds of all shapes and sizes, various pet vendor booths, two organized trail walks, contests for dog tricks, dog costumes, and longest lick (with the aid of peanut butter for the pooches). There was also a silent auction and prize raffle. Bob Turk showed up and assisted with the emceeing. I plan on coming back next year to volunteer my time and services for a great cause.

Congrats to Eva & Emerson as autumn began with a reception at the Waterford at Springfield. The wedding party was introduced to Pink's "Get This Party Started". Rat Pack music featuring Sinatra, Dean Martin, and blues from Billie Holiday filled the dinner hour. Our couple danced their 1st dance to a Barbra Streisand/Bryan Adams duet "I Finally Found Someone". Rod Stewart's "Have I Told You Lately" served as a combined father/daughter and mother/son dance. Top 40 and soul rounded out the evening as we finished up with Donna Summer's "Last Dance".

September 9th: Greyhound Rescue Inc Picnic
Another volunteer opportunity presented itself as I emceed and provided dj services for this year's Greyhound Rescue picnic held at Carderock Park in Carderock, MD. Most of the guests donated food and drinks and many items were donated as raffle prizes. Despite battling laryngitis, which sadly has kept me home from my day job this week, I hung in there and everyone had a good time. Photography for the event was provided by Betty Morales of Picture Perfect Pups.

September 1st: Wedding
After a nearly a 2 month break from weddings, I got back into the swing of things with a return trip to the Woodend Mansion in Chevy Chase for Anne & Young's nuptials. Our bride and groom chose "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys for their 1st dance - Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" and Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World" rounded out the father/daughter and mother/son dances respectively. The evening concluded with "Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star and REM's "End Of The World". Vendors included Petals Edge Florists, Occasions Caterers, and Michelle Frankfurter Photography.

Congratulations to Laurie and Chris on their "triple 7" wedding day at the Sheraton Baltimore North. The bridal party was introduced to Harry Connick's "It Had To Be You" and our bride & groom danced to Lifehouse's "You & Me" as their 1st dance. Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, and Nat King Cole filled out the cocktail hour/dinner portion. Laurie's brothers surprised everyone by dressing up as Mr & Mrs Potatohead (an inside joke on the groom). Some motown, disco, and top 40 hip/hop packed the dance floor later on and Donna Summer finished out the night with "Last Dance". Videography was provided by Arcadia Weddings and photography was provided by EyeMaster.

June 30th: Wedding
Congrats to Sarah & Alex as they celebrated their wedding at the Ronald Reagan Building - International Trade Center in DC. This was my 3rd straight DC wedding, but the 1st time I've ever had an event at the Reagan Building. A cocktail hour filled with Sinatra, Ella, and Billie Holiday was held in the nice lounge area - the party moved inside the main pavilion for dinner/dancing. Intros started with Keith Urban's "Somebody Like You" and the first dance was provided by an Ella Fitzgerald/Louis Armstrong duet of "The Can't Take That Away From Me". Steve Tyrell's version of "The Way You Look Tonight" and Tony Bennett's "I Left My Heart In S.F" rounded out the father/daughter and mother/son dances respectively. Motown, disco, and a final set of hip/hop led up to the final dance with Steve Tyrell's "Give Me The Simple Life". Floral arrangements were provided by my colleagues at Petals Edge and the wonderful Sara Bauleke of Bella Notte was the event's coordinator. Hopefully, we'll be working together again soon.

The Old Ebbitt Grill was the site for Mindy & Nick's special evening. Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, & Billie Holiday were among the artists played for cocktails and dinner. The wedding party was introduced to U2's "Beautiful Day" and Buble's "Home" was our bride & groom's 1st dance. Plenty of 80s, disco, classic r & b, and current hip/hop fueled the remainder of the evening. Gloria Estefan's version of "Everlasting Love" closed out the evening.

Congrats to Lauren & Peter as they had their post-wedding celebration on father's day at the Portico at DAR in DC. Lauren's parents are involved with Greyhound Rescue Inc and my support of greyhounds sealed the deal when it came time to book me.
The wedding celebration was pushed back from May 5th after Lauren & Peter went on an elopement cruise to Greece! This was referenced as the wedding party was introduced to Smokey Robinson's "Cruisin". A special butterfly release was accompanied in song by Mariah Carey's "Butterfly". Celine Dion's "A New Day Has Come" highlighted the 1st dance. A mixture of disco, dance, and 80s music complemented the rest of the evening. The evening appropriately finished with Donna Summer's "Last Dance". A special thanks to the very talented Erica Tait from Innova Photography for capturing many wonderful moments on camera.

For the 2nd time this month, I was treated to an early afternoon wedding - giving me Saturday night off! Congrats to Jaime & Colin as they celebrated their wedding at the Bethesda Hyatt Regency. After a wedding party intro to U2's "Beautiful Day", Jaime & Colin danced to Norah Jones' "The Nearness of You" for their 1st dance. Everyone danced the afternoon away to Justin Timberlake, ABBA, Rihanna, and everyone strutted their stuff while doing the Cha-Cha Slide. The afternoon was capped off by Anberlin's "Inevitable" and a Billy Preston/Syreeta tribute to Jaime's parents "With You I'm Born Again". Floral arrangements were done by Matt Aspey and photography was provided by a longtime colleague of mine - James Roy.

The "Br's" have it - congrats to Brett & Brooke! The weather cooperated and a wonderful ceremony & reception were held at Woodend Sanctuary in Chevy Chase, MD. Before the ceremony, a few of Woodend's residents (two deer, a bunny, and a squirrel) stopped by and checked out the festivities. Some guests took out their cameras to capture "Woodend"s finest" on film while Gerry from Petals Edge provided the wonderful plant arrangements for the ceremony. Brett & Brooke started things off with "Bring It On Home To Me" by Sam Cooke with some help from the smooth soulful Lou Rawls. Jennifer Domenick provided photography and got some memorable shots including an intense "dance-off" between Brett and one of the guests - Brett's "worm dance" sealed his victory. Interestingly enough, Jennifer has been the photographer at my last three appearances at Woodend.

A huge congrats goes out to Courtney & Chris as they celebrated their ceremony & reception at Swan Harbor Farm in Havre de Grace, MD. The bridal party was introduced to "Let's Get It Started" and later on, Courtney & Chris danced to Keith Urban's "Making Memories of Us" as their 1st dance. A powerful thunderstorm put a wrinkle into the dancing, but the storm soon passed and order was restored. A few "socials" were shouted out by the guests and everyone sang along to David Allen Coe's "You Never Even Call Me By My Name" with drinks in hand. The evening wrapped up with Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" as the last dance. Photography was provided by Peter Barnett.

June 3rd: GPA Reunion
Despite a rainy day, we still had a strong showing at the 17th Annual Reunion for the Greyhound Pets of America - MD Chapter. There were numerous pet vendors selling greyhound/pet related products from signs, pocketbooks, pictures, leashes, and more. There was a caricature artist who made drawings of your greyhound and a local vet stopped by to discuss the health & care of your greyhound. I also led the greyhounds in a "roo-ing" session which signaled the start of lunchtime.
Greyhound games included "musical greyhounds" and "can your greyhound eat that?" We also had greyhound contests for the tallest, smallest, longest nose, cutest hat, and barest buns.
This is my 3rd year donating my music and emceeing services at this event and I look forward to coming back for many years.

June 2nd: Wedding
The heat was definitely on for Bethany & Andy as they celebrated their wedding at Montpelier Mansion in Laurel, MD. Everyone survived the 90+ degree heat as our bride & groom exchanged their vows by Montpelier's circular garden. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a delicious brunch and had plenty of beverages to keep themselves refreshed - all provided by Main Event Caterers. Bethany & Andy started off the dancing with Van Morrison's "Someone Like You", but I was resigning myself to the fact that the heat would probably prevent alot of dancing afterwards. To the crowd's credit, they hung in there and packed the floor throughout some sets of motown, disco, current top 40. With Andrew Reilly providing photography, Bethany & Andy's special day wrapped up with Nina Simone's "Here Comes The Sun", an appropriate finish to a hot sunny day!

Congrats to Julie & Greg as they celebrated their reception at the Hyatt Fair Lakes in Fairfax. Highlights of their special day included a wedding party intro to the "Superman Theme", a special 1st dance to Aerosmith's "Don't Want To Miss A Thing", and a special mother's day/father's day tribute as I had all mother/sons & father/daughters in attendance dance together. Top 40, alternative, & country filled the evening as I was reunited with my good friend wedding coordinator Laura Auer of Soiree. Photography was provided by Matt Stewart with Labor of Love Photography.

News: New Addition - 2nd Annual Pets On Wheels Dog-a-Thon
My volunteer work with greyhound rescue has landed me another canine volunteer opportunity. I was approached by Pets On Wheels to help sponsor their 2nd Annual Dog-a-Thon. As a dog lover, how could I refuse? The date is set for Saturday, September 29th from 10am-3pm at Oregon Ridge Park in Hunt Valley. A big congrats to Debbie and Neil as they celebrated their big day at the Decatur House in Washington, DC. Debbie & Neil chose the Elvis classic "You're the Boss" for their 1st dance. A special parents dance featuring the Jackson 5's "I'll Be There" followed thereafter. The quote of the night was delivered by the best man, "Wales is known for two great exports, one being Tom Jones, the other being Neil." After the toasts concluded, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to open the dancing period with Jones' "It's Not Unusual". I concluded the fun-filled evening with Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, & Delivered." As a side note, this was my first opportunity to work with wedding coordinator Vicky Choy. We both have heard great things about each other in the past, and hopefully we'll be working together again in the future.

April 21st: Wedding
Adam and Kate's ceremony/reception at Herrington on the Bay definitely had a feel of a destination wedding - a little bit of Hawaii - a little bit of the Carribean - and a picture perfect Saturday after rain the previous 2 weekends. A very relaxed dress code meant plenty of sun dresses and hawaiian/tropical shirts. And yes - for the 1st time in my dj career, I wore a hawaiian shirt to a wedding. A beautiful ceremony on the Polynesian Bridal Lawn consisted of reggae/funk for prelude music and the bride & groom exchanged leis as a symbol of their devotion. A truly beautiful ceremony!
The reception was held at the Chesapeake Room and the room definitately had an island feel. The bride & grrom dance to Ben Harper's "By My Side" as a 1st dance - later on, John Lennon's "Imagine" was played for a combination father/daughter & mother/son dance. Reggae, alternative, and funk highlighted the evening and the party closed out with a ballad by Phish entitled "Wasted".

The Dumbarton House in DC was the site of Maureen & Danny's ceremony/reception. The rain held off long enough for a courtyard ceremony - then the reception was held downstairs. The wedding party did the "Walk of Life" for their intro (courtesy of Dire Straits). Maureen & Danny chose John Hiatt's "Have A Little Faith In Me" and the bride joined dad to Heartland's "I Loved Her First". A wide range of music filled the night from Black Eyed Peas to Gwen Stefani to Daft Punk - the party was extended an hour to keep everyone dancing. Top Loader's cover of "Dancing In The Moonlight" finished out a fun-filled event!

A big congrats to Kate & Chris on their Friday the 13th wedding at the Belvedere in Baltimore. A cocktail hour at the John Howard room featured music from Brubeck, Sinatra, and Bennett - the reception moved across the lobby to the Charles ballroom. After a rowsing wedding party intro to Fat Boy Slim's "Because We Can", the bride & groom chose Stringsteen's "Happy" as their 1st dance. Motown, disco, and big band were sprinkled in for good measure during the night. Everyone swayed together as Garth Brooks' "Friends In Low Places" capped off the evening.

A fun time was all as Sarah and Nathan celebrated their wedding at the Arts Club of DC. Both the ceremony and reception were held onsite - it was my first trip to this venue and truly appreciated the free parking I was able to obtain in back of the venue. Sarah was referred to me by Gerry Rogers of Petal's Edge - I did Gerry's wedding back in December of 2003.
A pianist provide the ceremony music while I took over with jazz and blues for the cocktail & dinner periods. The bride & groom's 1st dance was a soulful ballad from Tuck & Patti called "I Will". Sarah & dad danced to what else but Hall & Oates "Sara Smile". Disco, funk, and top 40 dominated the rest of the evening causing us to go an extra hour!

Erin Go Braugh! Kelly and Jonathan had their St. Patty's Day wedding at the Harbor Court Hotel near Baltimore's Inner Harbor. A pianist provide the cocktail music while jazz filled the dinner hour. A few toasts and a nice Irish blessing was offered before the meal. I was thrilled to learn that the officiant was the caretaker of Loyola College's greyhound mascot!
Special moments included a special dance by Iz "Over The Rainbow/Wonderful World" for Kelly and her grandfather and the best man's spirited rendition of the Blues Brothers "Soul Man". Kelly's father is a Beatles enthusiast and was treated to "In My Life" for his dance with his daughter. The floor was packed throughout the night with disco, funk, hip/hop - and the state of New Jersey was well represented with tracks from Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen.

The cocktail hour music consisted of some jazzy Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, and some Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald for good measure. February 3rd: Private Event
Historic Christ Church of Alexandria, VA had their annual Mardi-Gras themed dinner/dance on February 3rd. This was a return engagement for me - I also did their event back in February of 2005. A fun time was had by all as the audience enjoyed tracks from Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, and Dean Martin during their dinner hour. After dinner, the Church had their silent auction. Swing, motown, and even some retro-disco tracks filled out the remainder of the evening.
Since I do so many weddings, private events are a rarity for me. Most of the clients who book me for private events are either return clients or they were referred by by previous clients. My customer loyalty program allows previous clients to get discounts on private events.
